Carbon Reduction Policy

1. Purpose

This policy defines our commitment to reducing carbon emissions within our company and extends this commitment to encouraging personal actions and, where possible, influencing those we interact with. By promoting sustainable practices and making changes to our processes, we aim to minimise our environmental impact and contribute to global decarbonisation efforts.

2. Scope

This policy applies to all employees and is extended by invitation to those others who are involved in our operations. It covers all activities, products, and services provided by our company.

4. Objectives

To achieve our carbon reduction goals, we aim to:

Energy Efficiency: Optimise energy consumption in our activities by implementing energy-efficient technologies and practices.

Renewable Energy: Increase the use and storage of renewable energy sources where possible.

Waste Reduction: Minimise waste production by promoting recycling, reusing materials, and reducing unnecessary consumption.

Supply Chain Engagement: Engage with suppliers to determine and encourage a commitment to sustainability, prioritise use of lower carbon products and services.

Transportation: Reduce emissions from transportation by encouraging car-sharing, use of public transport, walking, cycling and the use of low-emission vehicles and fuels.

Employee Engagement: Educate and involve employees in sustainability initiatives, encouraging them to adopt environmentally friendly practices both at work and at home.

Customer Engagement: Share our knowledge and understanding of carbon literacy with our customers and suppliers to encourage sustainability initiatives. Lead by example.

Recognition: Recognising and celebrating the efforts of those who contribute to our carbon reduction goals to promote awareness and encourage further engagement.


5. Implementation

To implement our carbon reduction policy, we shall:

Monitor and Audit: Regularly monitor and audit areas of our business's carbon footprint to identify areas for improvement.

Set Targets: Establish specific, measurable targets for reducing carbon emissions.

Action Plan: Develop and implement an action plan to complement this policy document that details the steps necessary to achieve our targets.

Reporting: Evaluate progress and create and share our performance reports.

Training and Awareness: Provide ongoing training and make resources available to employees, customers and suppliers to support their decarbonisation journey.


6. Roles and Responsibilities

Management: Lead the implementation of this policy, allocate resources, and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.

Policy Coordinator: Coordinate the development and execution of the carbon reduction action plan and monitor progress.

Employees: Participate in training, adhere to best practices, and contribute to the achievement of our carbon reduction targets.


7. Continuous Improvement

This policy shall be reviewed annually to ensure it remains relevant and effective. Refined targets at each iteration shall demonstrate our commitment to continuous improvement.


8. Communication

We shall communicate our carbon reduction policy and progress to all stakeholders, including employees, customers, suppliers, and the wider community. We shall also seek feedback and suggestions for improvement.


9. Key Performance Indicators

 Actions for 2024 are:

  • Publish 2023 scope 1 & 2 emissions and set reduction targets and timeline.
  • Monitor current water usage and set reduction targets based on current use. 
  • Calculate current business travel and set reduction targets and timeline.
  • Calculate current employee travel and encourage reduction
  • Develop a scoring system to evaluate our suppliers' carbon impact
